MACHINIST - CLASS C

Description:

Operate a variety of machine tools and hand tools to produce precision parts.

Duties:

Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to manufacture precision parts, and determine product dimentions and tolerances.  Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.  Proficiently operate a manual lathe, manual milling machine, Bridgeport mill, production saw, grinder, bucking machine, hone, drill press, pneumatic drill, and die grinder for the purposes of metal removal, deburring, and polishing machined surfaces.  

Additional Functions:

Operate a forklift; Deburr parts.  Any other duties that the position is required to perform.    

Qualifications:

The machinist should have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.

Six (6) months to one (1) year of working experience in a manufacturing environment or the willingness to learn the skills necessary to perform the essential functions.

 The machinist MUST have knowledge of machine tools, math, algebra, geometry, statistics and their applications.

Necessary Skills:

Requires basic computer skills (for time keeping, part documentation, compliance withi manufacturing schedule, and intra-company communication.)

Ability to use a scale, micrometer, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.

Ability to read blueprints.

Requires average math skills.

Ability to communicate verbally.

Mechanical abililty helpful.
